• History: Although leopards have the widest natural distribution of any large cat, including parts of Africa and southern Asia, they are unfortunately classified as a vulnerable species. Like many exotic species endemic to those regions, they are suffering from a dramatic loss of their natural habitat due to human incursion and deforestation, as well as an increased level of illegal poaching.
